Many people leave this feature on by default to make it easier to connect to headphones, speakers, and other devices, creating a window of opportunity for attackers.
The National Police, aware of the threat posed by the bluesnarfinghas shared a simple but effective trick to turn off a button on your mobile phone that will help protect you from this attack and prevent your phone from automatically connecting to devices via Bluetooth.
It is worth noting that the key is to limit the number of devices your mobile can connect to simultaneously, a setting that is hidden by default, but which you can activate on Android by following a few simple steps.
How to activate the Bluetooth trick on your Android mobile
- Open the application Setting on your Android device.
- Scroll down and select About of the phone.
- Look for the Build number and tap it several times until a message appears saying that developer options are enabled.
- You may be asked to enter your PIN or password.
- Return to the main screen of Setting.
- Scroll down and select System (either Additional configurationdepending on the manufacturer of your mobile phone).
- Touch Developer options.
- Within the options, scroll down until you find the section of Bluetooth.
- Look for the option Maximum number of connected Bluetooth devices or a similar name and click on it.
- Change the default value (which is usually 5) to 1.
- Once this is done, restart your mobile.
