The most recent report from the Corabastos Wholesale Central has revealed significant changes in the prices of several products in the family basket this Monday, July 8. Standing out among them, some products have experienced significant reductions that could benefit consumers in all the country.

Price reductions on key products

Among the products that showed a considerable decline is the tree tomato, whose 25-kilo basket now costs $80,000. This fruit, originally from the Peruvian Andes and widely cultivated in countries in the Andean region such as Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil and Colombia, has seen an expansion of its offering in the Colombian market.

“In our country, several varieties of this tomato are grown. Among them, the common one, the one grafted with blackberry and the one grafted with mango, known as pollito”Corabastos said, highlighting the diversity of options available to local consumers.

In addition to the tree tomato, other products that have registered decreases in their prices are: melon, sold at $2,000 per kilo, gold pineapple at $3,000 per kilo and cilantro, with a 10-kilo bundle at $40,000. These reductions could represent a relief for consumers looking for fresh and affordable options in the wholesale market.

Despite the reductions mentioned, the week began with minimal variation in the prices of other products in the vegetable and greens sector. Products such as the creole potato, now at $260,000 per 50-kilo bag, and Broccoli, which is priced at $80,000 per dozenshowed upward adjustments.

Likewise, Passion fruit, in a 10-kilo bag, sells for $45,000 and artichokes, in dozens of 10 kilos, at $75,000, reflecting movements in the prices of other essential products for Colombian cuisine.

Opportunities in other products in the family basket

Despite the variations in the prices of fruits and vegetables, Corabastos also highlighted that consumers will be able to find favorable prices on products such as regular rice in 50-kilo bags, with prices ranging between $185,000 and $192,000ensuring availability and stability in this basic product.
