The far-right Marine Le Pen’s campaign for the 2022 presidential election is being investigated for alleged illegal financing, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced on Tuesday.
The investigation was opened for six possible crimes, including embezzlement of funds by persons exercising a public function, falsification of documents and acceptance by a candidate during his campaign of a loan from an entity, he said.
