Sam Altman and OpenAI are already thinking about GPT-5, the most ambitious ChatGPT: these will be its new features

This is the AI that uses a unisex name, it is more natural than ChatGPT or Gemini and almost nobody knows it

Although it seems like it was just yesterday when everyone was talking about what’s new in GPT-4 or the latest version of ChatGPT, Sam Altman and the people at OpenAI are already giving clues as to what can be expected with the long-awaited GPT-5a technology that many people hope will mark a turning point in artificial intelligence. Still, they are cautious.

Knowing that all eyes are on them, OpenAI is still at the forefront of everything related to AI right now. However, the competition is tough and companies like Google, Tesla or Amazon itself wants to have a lot to say in this technological war. That is why the next moves they make will be key for the future.

What can we expect from GPT-5?

It was during the Aspen Ideas Festival held in the United States, where the always media-friendly Sam Altman spoke about what OpenAI’s plans are. As expected, his speech at the event revolved around GPT-5, its possible new features and how it will surpass previous versions of ChatGPT.

Altman has primarily emphasized that GPT-5 will attempt to fix the problems currently suffered by GPT-4and which many users tend to point out. The CEO of OpenAI has assured that, above all, he hopes it will be “a significant advance.” What does this really mean? As he explains Windows Centralhas expressed it thus:

“A lot of the things that GPT-4 does wrong, you know, it’s not capable of doing much in terms of reasoning,” the computer scientist acknowledged. “Sometimes he just completely goes off the rails and makes a silly mistakein a way that not even a six-year-old would do.”

Interestingly, Altman compared ChatGPT to Apple itself. “The first iPhone model that came out was still very buggy, but it was good enough that people could find it useful,” he recalled. Similarly, the OpenAI boss believes that this technology (AI) is still in its early stages.

The evolution of ChatGPT

As he explained during the interview, in which Sam Altman acknowledged that he is “optimistic” regarding GPT-5, he specified that this will present a significant improvement in reasoningmaking it more reliable than previous models. It will also include text, images and video. The release date has not been as precise.

Without giving an exact confirmation, GPT-5 still appears to be scheduled for late 2024 or early 2025. At least, in principle, since he has acknowledged that “there is still a lot of work to be done.” In fact, the larger the scale of the model (and it will be), the more difficult the challenge of training and the more precise its characteristics seem to be.

In any case, and although OpenAI is convinced of the evolution that GPT-5 will bring, the true results will only be known when AI faces its main judge: the users themselves.

Known how we work in Computerhoy.
