The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) reported on Monday that due to restrictions imposed by Israel, its workers in the Gaza Strip have not received any humanitarian aid at their facilities since May 3, despite the entry of trucks through the Kerem Shalom crossing.

“There has been almost no aid arriving in the past week and the number of commercial trucks passing through Kerem Shalom has dropped dramatically (…). During my time here in Deir al-Bala I have not seen anything that could be described as ‘sufficient aid’. It is almost non-existent,” said Maysa Saleh, a member of the NGO.

The NRC has provided 90 cubic metres of drinking water per day to displaced families in up to 10 locations, benefiting over 24,000 people. However, the daily supply has decreased to 45 cubic metres due to fuel shortages.

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), the Israeli military authority in charge of the Palestinian territories, has again blamed the United Nations on Monday for delays in the distribution of aid in the Palestinian enclave.

“We have been urging the UN for weeks to expand fuel distribution logistics for a continuous and optimal response to the health system. However, the UN continues to depend on the collapse of UNRWA logistics,” he said on the social network X.
