Telefónica is the “most socially responsible” technology company in terms of respect for human rights, the promotion of decent work and ethical conduct, according to a ranking by the World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) that has evaluated 173 companies.
The company is thus among the 20 highest-scoring companies worldwide after achieving 14 points, with the highest score being 15.5 out of a maximum of 20, taking into account the 18 social indicators that are measured and on a basis of 2,000 companies.
The WBA ranking represents the social expectations that companies must meet in order to contribute to a transformation “that leaves no one behind”, prioritising respect for human rights, the promotion of decent work, and ethical conduct in areas such as lobbying and taxation.
Telefónica says that being included in the ranking “is an incentive” in its objective to improve and fulfill its company purpose of ‘Making our world more human by connecting people’s lives’, as one of its main contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
