DJI, the leading manufacturer of drones and cameras, has announced today that it is entering into completely new territory. Taking advantage of its presence at Eurobike 2024, DJI is introducing its own brand of electric mountain bikes: Amflow Bikes.
And its first model is the Amflow PL, an electric bike whose main novelty is that it debuts the new DJI Avinox transmission system. These are the features of the first bike powered by DJI, a model that, as expected, can also be controlled from a mobile phone to monitor all activity.
850W of maximum power at an unrivalled weight
The Amflow PL is an electric mountain bike that offers a maximum power of 850W in a weight of 19.2 kilogramswhich DJI says is an industry-leading standard. Looking at the carbon fiber frame, we have a weight of just 2.27 kg.
The bike is powered by the new DJI Avinox Drive System, which features a engine with 105 Nm of torque and a nominal power of 250W. In the case of the motor we have a weight of 2.52 kilograms.
“It’s a natural move for DJI to enter this field as we have mastered the core technologies of an electric bike system in terms of developing a reliable motor, battery management, mechanical design and engineering,” explains Christina Zhang, Director of Corporate Strategy at DJI.
The interior of the engine is made of a high-resistance polymer to reduce the noise of the gearbox and has different sensors. The system has an ‘automated’ mode that adapts assistance in real time according to terrain conditions and our position.
Additionally, it has a ‘Boost’ mode to increase torque to 120 Nm and 1000W assistance to help with hills. It also has a ‘Walk’ mode that has automatic hold to avoid rolling back and start-up assistance. Finally, they also explain that we can change gears while stopped.
The Avinox system offers two battery options: 600 Wh and 800 WhThis second battery weighs 2.87 kg and has a 12 A/508W GaN charger that promises to charge the battery from 0% to 75% in 1.5 hours.
It has Rear shock tuned by FOX and as for wheel size, we have compatibility with 27.5″ and 29″ rear wheels.
The Amflow PL has a 2″ color OLED touch screen integrated into the framewith 800 nits of brightness and 326 dpi. We can also adjust it from the mobile and from a remote control Bluetooth enabled to adjust parameters on the fly.
From the app we can adjust the power, torque and cadence (up to 150 rpm). It also has an anti-theft mode and remote location. The bike has a GPS + Galileo + BeiDou + GLONASS + QZSS system.
According to DJI, Amflow bikes are expected to be available during the fourth quarter of 2024 in Germany, the UK and Australia, among other countries. Prices for these new electric mountain bikes have not yet been specified.
