Israel claims to have killed "dozens" of suspected terrorists in its new offensive in Gaza City

Israeli army confirms death of another soldier in fighting in southern Gaza

Jul 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israeli Army claimed this Monday to have killed “dozens” of alleged terrorists in its ground operation against the Shujaia neighborhood, located in the east of Gaza City, launched last week, within the framework of the offensive launched after the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions.

“Dozens of terrorists have been eliminated and many weapons production and storage sites have been destroyed in dozens of airstrikes by the Air Force,” he said in a statement posted on his social media account X.

He said the military “eliminated several terrorists in the Shujaia area in close-range clashes and found many weapons during raids in the area,” days after stressing that it was attacking “targets on and under the ground” after receiving information about “the presence of terrorists” in the area, located in the north of the Strip.

The Israeli army on Thursday called on residents of Shujaia to evacuate the area following the start of the offensive, which Hamas has denounced as part of “the war of extermination against the Palestinians.”

The Israeli army has also confirmed the death of another soldier in fighting in the southern Gaza Strip. The Israeli army has specified that this is Sergeant Ori Itzchak Hadad, a member of the 931st Battalion of the Nahal Brigade, without giving further details about the incident.

The Israeli army launched an offensive against Gaza following the attacks on October 7, which left nearly 1,200 dead and some 240 kidnapped. The Gazan authorities, controlled by the Islamist group, have reported 37,900 dead, in addition to more than 550 Palestinians killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in operations by Israeli forces or in attacks carried out by settlers.
