The consultant Mercer announced the Cost of Living Rankings 2024in which he organized the cities of the globe according to their cost of living.
For this year, the world ranking had as undisputed leaders the cities of Hong Kong and Singaporefollowed by Zurich, Geneva, Basel and Bern.

In the case of Latin America and the Caribbean, Mercer’s list placed Nassau (Bahamas)Mexico City and San José (Costa Rica) in the highest positions for countries in this region of the world.
The other Latin American cities that appear in the ranking are, in order,: Montevideo (42); San Juan (48); Buenos Aires (77); Kingston (99); Port of Spain (114); Monterey (115) and Sao Paulo (124).

This report had as criteria categories such as household supplies; personal care and cosmetics; Clothes and shoes; home services; public services; food away from home and transportation.
For this year, Mercer covered a total of 226 cities spread across five continents and evaluated the comparative costs of more than 200 items at each location.
