June 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Around 625,000 Palestinian children residing in the Gaza Strip have now been out of school for more than eight months due to the military offensive launched by Israel against the enclave after the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), according to The United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) indicated this Friday.

“More than 625,000 children in Gaza have been out of school for more than eight months,” he said, adding that more than 300,000 of them were attending the agency’s schools before the outbreak of the conflict following the aforementioned attacks on Israel, which left nearly 1,200 dead and some 240 kidnapped.

“The play and learning activities facilitated by UNRWA teams are key to preparing children to return to school and restore their right to education,” UNRWA said in a brief message posted on its social media account X.

The Gazan authorities, controlled by Hamas, have reported more than 37,700 deaths to date, in addition to more than 520 Palestinians killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in operations by Israeli forces or in attacks carried out by settlers.
