Nearly 30 alleged members of the Islamic State jihadist group detained in Türkiye

June 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Turkish security forces have arrested nearly 30 suspected members of the Islamic State jihadist group on Friday in a series of operations carried out in four provinces of the country, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed.

In a statement published on social media, the official stressed that “28 suspects were involved in the ‘Bozdogan-47’ operations, carried out against the terrorist organization Islamic State” in the provinces of Adana, Bursa, Istanbul and Manisa.

Yerlikaya said that the agents had seized “large amounts of money in foreign currency and Turkish lira” and “a large amount of digital materials.” “We will continue to fight without hesitation, with your prayers and support, until the last terrorist is neutralized,” she added.

Islamic State, which seized large parts of Iraq and Syria after a lightning offensive in 2014, has carried out several attacks on Turkish soil in recent years – including one in January against a church in Istanbul – that have killed at least 300 people.
