Treasury gives Pemex more time to pay DUC

In a decree published in the evening edition, yesterday, Tuesday, June 25, of the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), the Treasury detailed that “assignees obliged to make monthly provisional payments on account of the right for the shared utility are authorized. referred to in article 39 of the aforementioned law, to pay in a deferred manner the provisional payment corresponding to the month of May 2024, no later than July 31 of the same year.

He explained that this payment can be credited in the annual declaration by DUC, and that this extension will not generate fines or surcharges.

“Any provisional payment made under the terms of this article will be deemed to have been made in a timely manner, and will not generate any surcharges for extensions or updates, nor will it give rise to any penalties,” he said.

According to the document, the decree came into force after its publication in the DOF.

So far this six-year term, the federal government through the Treasury has provided fiscal and financial support, such as reductions to the DUC, in 2018 it was 60% and this year it is 35%. The savings for this concept, until the third quarter of last year, would have represented 457,000 million pesos for the company to achieve liquidity to absorb its obligations. But that scenario did not come to pass,

The Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO) estimates support for the state company at 975,000 million pesos so far in the current federal administration. Not counting some aid such as injections that the Treasury has given this year so that the state company covers debts with its suppliers.
