The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyvisited this Wednesday the eastern region of Donetsk, where the hottest points of the entire front are located, to meet with military and civil authorities and personally address the security and humanitarian situation.
“I had a meeting in the Donetsk region about security and support for the population”, he has written on his social networks. Among the topics discussed, he added, the provision of water and social services, evacuation and repair of homes damaged by Russian attacks or hostilities stand out.
The Ukrainian president was accompanied in Donetsk by the head of the ArmyOleksandr Sirski, and by the new commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andrí Gnátov, appointed to replace a soldier who had been accused of having caused many Ukrainian casualties with his alleged incompetence.

Zelensky introduced Gnátov to “all those responsible for the defense of the Donetsk region.” Together with the two soldiers who accompanied him, the head of the Ukrainian state was informed about the military situation there in the same Ukrainian positions.
“I am glad to have seen and thanked our 110th Brigade and the 47th Brigade,” Zelensky wrote in his message, in which he thanked their members for their “heroic” work and explained that he also thanked the combat medics for their work.
The Ukrainian president also announced that, upon his return to kyiv, he will ask some government officials to travel to towns and cities near the front to learn first-hand about the situation.
“Solutions cannot be seen from kyiv”said Zelensky, who added his surprise that certain government figures have not visited these communities “for half a year or more” and announced that he will make “appropriate” decisions about these officials.
