The launching of more than 250 balloons full of garbage by the North Korean authorities this Wednesday caused the temporary suspension of flights in the South Korean capital, Seoul, resumed shortly after, as confirmed by the South Korean authorities, before a rebound in this practice by Pyongyang, which assures that it responds to similar actions by the neighboring country.

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff have indicated that around a hundred balloons, filled with papers, have fallen in Seoul and Gyeonggi province, on the outskirts of the capital, before adding that studies indicate that they did not carry harmful substances. .

According to information collected by the South Korean news agency Yonhap, these launches have caused suspensions and delays for three hours at Incheon International Airport for reasons of operational safety, without any material damage being recorded due to the impact of the balloons.

It should be noted that North Korea has sent more than 2,000 balloons with garbage towards South Korean territory in just one month in response to the launch of propaganda leaflets against the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, to which Seoul responded with the resumption of a psychological war. through propaganda broadcasts through loudspeakers at the border, resumed on June 9 for the first time in six years.

Furthermore, these launches come hours after North Korea launched a ballistic missile into the Sea of ​​Japan, known as the East Sea by South Korea. The two Koreas are still technically at war since the war that took place between 1950 and 1953 ended with the signing of an armistice agreement and not a peace treaty.
