One of the problems that we may encounter if we want to set up a video surveillance system at home is making it resistant to blackouts or intentional (or unintentional) power outages, or simply if we do not have a way to provide an electrical connection to the area to be monitored. The new thing from TP-Link seeks to solve this problem in a simple way by integrating it into its new cameras Tapo C410 Kit and TC82 Kit a system of solar panel along with its own battery.
They are installed without the need for cables, since the solar panel is capable of keeping the camera running and charging its battery to achieve a autonomy of up to 180 days. They have water and dust resistance certified with IP65 to be able to be outdoors.
They offer 2K resolution with a sensor Starlight CMOS and also support color night vision. They do not lack person recognition to detect possible intrusions based on a previously trained Artificial Intelligence model.
They can connect to the Internet through Wifi to be able to integrate into the TP-Link TapoCare cloud system (paid). They also integrate a microSD card reader with support for cards up to 512 GB for local recording.
Despite their features, it does not seem that they are going to be expensive models, quite the opposite: We can find the TC82 KIT in European stores for a price of 88.5 euros, while the Tapo C410 KIt is available in Amazon for 79.99 euros (and it was even at 59.99 euros last week)
