The spokesman for the United States Department of State, Matthew Miller, has appreciated that South Korea has announced that it will reconsider its position on supplying weapons to Ukraine after the defense and security agreement reached this week between Pyongyang and Moscow, which implies reciprocity in the delivery of military equipment if one of the two is attacked.
“That is a decision that South Korea must make, just as it is a decision that each country must make in terms of whether they are going to supply weapons to Ukraine. We welcome any support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, which is ultimately a South Korean decision,” Miller said during a press conference.
Seoul has also shown its “serious concern” about the strategic military treaty ratified this week during the visit to Pyongyang of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has warned South Korea that the supply of lethal weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces would be ” a serious mistake,” and has threatened that Moscow could take action in response.
