Public Bank inaugurates the 2024 Race for Change for Sustainable Health and Wellbeing

Largest exhibition of Egyptian artifacts to open at Shanghai Museum

Public Bank is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of its inaugural Run for Change 2024 in Padang Merbok Kuala Lumpur, which aimed to promote sustainable health and wellbeing. The event brought together more than 1,200 Public Bank employees from diverse backgrounds to raise awareness about fostering a culture of sustainability and improving quality of life through environmental, social and governance practices (IS G) in the community.

The event went beyond a race on the occasion of World Environment Day. It provided a platform for people to come together and have a significant impact on the environment. A portion of the participation fees was allocated to the purchase of saplings, thus contributing to the nation’s ecological initiative. This initiative aimed to improve environmental sustainability and promote the importance of preserving nature for future generations.

The race also promoted physical fitness and the importance of healthy lifestyles among participants, especially young people.

To make the event more inclusive, 100 students from the Public Bank Berhad Asia Green Growth Foundation (PBB GGAF) Eco-Schools program and residents of three special homes – Lovely Disabled Home, Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Insan, and Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah- joined the race. Public Bank sponsored the attendance of PBB GGAF Eco School students and residents of these special homes, demonstrating our commitment to giving back to the community through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. PBB GGAF Eco Students -Schools participate in the Public Bank’s three-year ESG program, and their participation underlines the Bank’s commitment to sustainable environmental education.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Tan Sri Dato Sri Dr Tay Ah Lek, Managing Director and CEO of Public Bank, expressed his satisfaction and pride, stating: “The inaugural edition of Run for Change 2024 has been a resounding success, thanks to the dedication and commitment of all participants. Seeing more than 1,200 people united for a cause that defends sustainability and community well-being is truly inspiring. This event highlights our collective responsibility to the environment and underlines the importance of inclusion.
