The decision of the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) to maintain the Club Náutico de Ibiza (CNI) when its concession had expired after 90 years had an enormous consensus on the islands. The order of the judge who has sent the leadership of the public entity to trial reveals the support that the Nautical Club had, starting with the displays of public support from the then president, the socialist Francina Armengol.
But the then president of State Ports, José Llorca (appointed by the PP) and his chief of staff and that of the State’s attorney in Ports were also involved in the work in Madrid. None of these are identified by the judge as responsible for the crime – but those who signed and executed the order for what, according to the judge, has every appearance of being a rip-off. But the case is interesting to know the guts of the State, how proposals were discussed between State lawyers to keep the club in the port, those who gave verbal orders and those who opposed.
