Sadykoy’s wife blames Kazakh president for “assassination attempt”
June 19 () –
The prominent opposition blogger from Kazakhstan Aydos Sadykoy was seriously hospitalized this Tuesday after being shot several times in the center of kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, whose authorities granted him asylum in 2014.
“Aydos has been shot in the center of the Ukrainian capital. Brazenly and cynically, in broad daylight and in front of witnesses. This happened when Aydos was entering the courtyard of our house. I was sitting next to him, in the seat of the passenger,” his wife Natalia Sadykova said on her Facebook social network account.
Furthermore, he has assured that the president of Kazakhstan, Kasim Yomart Tokayev, has ordered this “attempted assassination” against someone who “has always defended the interests of the Kazakhs.”
“Aydos has already been operated on; he is in intensive care in serious condition. Please pray for his survival. My beloved husband is honest, fair and principled, he always defended the interests of the Kazakhs. I am sure that the author of this assassination attempt is on the president of Kazakhstan,” he stated.
For its part, the NGO Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has expressed concern about “a possible orchestrated assassination attempt” from Kazakh territory, and has urged the Ukrainian authorities to clarify the event, as published on its website. social
Sadykov was sentenced in 2010 to two years in prison for “hooliganism”, at which time he was an activist who organized numerous demonstrations. After leaving prison in 2012, both he and his wife began running a YouTube channel in which they criticized the country’s authorities. In October 2023, the Kazakh Justice issued a search and arrest warrant for his support of the January 2022 protests.
It should be noted that his latest video, published a day ago, is titled “The president of Kazakhstan has become a puppet of Russian influence agents.”
