The company also noted improvements in its Lens Studio program, a free app with which it is possible to create augmented reality (AR) effects or “Lens” – as Snap calls them.

The novelty is that now AR developers will be able to use artificial intelligence for their creations on Snapchat or other platforms.

“What’s fun for us is that these tools expand the creative space that people can work in, but they’re also easy to use, so newcomers can build something unique very quickly,” Bobby Murphy, director of Snap technology.

The presence of Snapchat

The United States is one of the main markets for the app. According to the company’s report, in October 2023 they reached 101 million users, although in April 2024 they had a drop that placed them at 100 million.

Europe is another of the large markets, in this region users increased from 92 million to 26 million in one year.

Although the app still has an audience in Mexico, it does not compare with the two aforementioned regions. According to Statista, in August 2020, the number of Snapchat downloads for Android and iOS exceeded 938,500 in Mexico, which represented a 50% drop compared to what was recorded in the same month of the previous year.

The consulting firm’s figures also indicate that by February 2024, Mexico had the largest number of Snapchat users in Latin America, approximately 16 million monthly active users.

Globally, the outlook is favorable, application downloads are increasing, the platform reported that it went from 375 million active users in the first quarter of 2023 to 422 million users in the same period of 2024. This represented an increase of 12.5% in one year.
