Picap, ‘the motorcycle uber’ that wants to conquer Mexico

Picap is a platform of Colombian origin that has existed since 2016 and operates in countries such as Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Argentina and Chile. According to company figures, in Colombia it has generated approximately 300 direct jobs and has 500,000 registered drivers, in addition to just over 200,000 monthly users.

Alejandra Rueda, marketing director of the company, pointed out that the main objective of the app is to reduce the travel time of the inhabitants of Mexico City, taking into account that it takes people who are in the capital on average up to two hours to travel to their workplaces, which is equivalent to 21 days lost in traffic per year. In addition, users can save up to 30% on the fare compared to other private transportation services.

“The average ticket can be between 33 and 78 pesos, and unlike what many users of other apps have with this option, it is not a delivery app, but a transportation app, so they should not think about going down to pick up the products. as such and then deliver them, as happens with other job options,” said Rueda, when questioning why there is interest on the part of drivers to provide this service.

Although the transportation service is the differentiator with which they arrive in the country, they have some extra services, such as parcel delivery or cargo vehicle service of various capacities. And in the case of Picap Rent, users can choose to rent a car or motorcycle with or without a driver.
