June 14 () –

The president of the National Group, Jordan Bardella, appealed this Friday to the rest of the political parties in France to call for calm in the face of a weekend that is planned to be tense in the country due to the call for several demonstrations against the extreme right.

“I sincerely call on all political parties, including those on the left (…) to all call for appeasement,” said Bardella, who is running as a candidate for prime minister for the National Group in the country’s next legislative elections. scheduled for June 30 and July 7.

The resounding victory of Marine Le Pen’s National Rally in Sunday’s European elections caused a political earthquake in France. President Emmanuel Macron called elections in response to the victory of the extreme right, and part of the population has taken to the streets against the extreme right.

“Democracy cannot be questioned to the point of rejecting the results of the polls,” Bardella reproached the media, according to the French news channel BFMTV.

After Macron announced the early elections, the left-wing parties have managed to reach an agreement to participate in the elections together. Meanwhile, the classic right of Los Republicanos is in the middle of an internal crisis after its leader opened the door to making an agreement with Le Pen.

The polls grant victory to the National Group, although it is true that with the creation of the so-called New Popular Front the left-wing parties have risen in the polls and could end up being just three percentage points behind Le Pen.
