The role of the private sector in productive development policies in the region will be discussed at ECLAC

WHAT: Regional dialogue: “The role of the private sector within the framework of a new vision of productive development policies (PDP) for Latin America and the Caribbean.”

The meeting, organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the International Organization of Employers (IOE) and the International Labor Organization (ILO), will take place on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 9 00:00 to 17:00, in Santiago de Chile, with the participation of government officials, representatives of business groups from the countries of the region and specialists from international organizations.

During the seminar, a new vision of productive development policies (PDP) for Latin America and the Caribbean will be presented, and the role that the private sector should play in their implementation, both at the national and subnational levels, will be investigated.

In the five panels of the event, successful experiences of private sector participation in public-private governance spaces will be presented to address strategic issues such as sustainable development, closing human talent gaps, the generation and dissemination of technology and knowledge. , and territorial productive development.

The program includes a presentation by the Executive Secretary of ECLAC, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, entitled “Transformation of the development model of Latin America and the Caribbean and the role of the PDPs.” Meanwhile, the Director of Public Policies of the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC) of Chile, Javier Irarrázaval, will report on the main results of the ILO 2023 report Boosting Productivity in Latin America.
