The spokesperson for the United States Department of Defense, Sabrina Singh, announced this Wednesday that the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip has resumed through the temporary dock installed by Washington, operations that had been paralyzed for two days. by high tides.
“For the past two days, the temporary dock has not been operational due to high tide. Since yesterday, June 11, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has resumed the delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza with more than 500 tons of aid delivered in the distribution area, and today it has delivered another 500 tons,” he expressed during a press conference.
Thus, the Pentagon spokesperson highlighted that, since May 17, CENCTOM has collaborated in the delivery of more than 2,500 tons of humanitarian assistance for subsequent distribution on land.
“Last night the only Army ship that was stranded in Gaza on May 25 was recovered, and we greatly appreciate the help of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the recovery of that ship,” he added.
The US authorities completed this floating dock in mid-May, with which Washington sought to facilitate the disembarkation of aid sent by sea. In March, a maritime corridor from Cyprus was inaugurated to alleviate the serious needs in the Strip.
Humanitarian organizations have denounced, however, that neither these shipments nor the launch of aid from the air are enough to cover all the gaps and have instead demanded the unhindered entry of aid through the land border, controlled entirely by Israel. .
