An alleged follower of the jihadist group Islamic State (IS), ISIS for its acronym in English, was arrested last Friday, June 7, at the airport in Cologne-Bonn (west), as reported this Monday by the State Attorney General’s Office, while the media have pointed out that the individual had tried to find a job as a security guard in the Euro Cup.
The suspect, with triple nationality German, Moroccan and Polishis accused of supporting a foreign terrorist organization, according to a statement.
According to the prosecutor’s version, the detainee sympathizes with the ideology of the IS and in September 2023 he made transfers of sums of money on three occasions. $1,675 to an Islamic State account of Greater Khorasan (known as ISIS-K, a regional branch of IS in Central Asia).
The detainee appeared on June 7 before the investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice, who ordered his entry into preventive detention.
Meanwhile, several German media had reported over the weekend the arrest of the alleged IS sympathizer, who according to unofficial information had presented himself as resume to work as a security guard in various events related to the Euro Cup.
However, it was excluded during the selection process for reasons that have not been revealed.
Furthermore, according to the tabloid ‘Bild’, he tried without success to gain access to two other large mass events.
Last March, two alleged ISIS-K sympathizers were arrested in Germany in Gera (east) who apparently wanted to carry out an attack in Sweden in reaction to the burning of Korans.
