The United States has assured this Tuesday that it is reviewing the response of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to the ceasefire proposal presented by the US president, Joe Biden, for the Gaza Strip.

The White House National Security spokesman, John Kirby, has reported that the Biden Administration is working with the hypothesis that the leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, has approved this response, as reported by the Bloomberg news agency.

The Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, indicated this Tuesday that the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has expressed his explicit support for the ceasefire plan announced by Biden and endorsed on Monday by a Council resolution. of United Nations Security.

Both Hamas and Islamic Jihad have reported that their response prioritizes the interests of the Palestinian people and the need to “completely” stop the ongoing aggression against Gaza, according to the newspaper ‘Filistin’, related to the Islamist group.

Likewise, the two militias have expressed in a statement the willingness of the Palestinian delegation to “negotiate positively” to reach an agreement to end hostilities in the Palestinian enclave.

Hamas already stated late on Monday that it positively welcomed the UN Security Council resolution and asked to negotiate with Israel the principles included in the text, approved by 14 favorable votes and the abstention of Russia.

The plan is divided into three phases: the first proposes the exchange of hostages for prisoners and a short-term ceasefire, while the second foresees a “permanent cessation of hostilities” and the complete withdrawal of Israeli military forces from Gaza. . The third and final phase includes a multi-year reconstruction plan for the Strip.
