WhatsApp works on a moderation mechanism to manually approve the entry of new members to a group

12 Aug. (Portaltic/EP) –

WhatsApp is working on a new moderation feature that will allow group admins to approve new members manually.

Currently, the instant messaging application only allows admins to add people to a group. To do this, they can add them directly to the conversation or share an access link with them.

However, the application is now developing a new moderation tool, which will allow the administrators of a group to manually approve the entry of new users, according to the specialized portal WABetaInfo.

This new feature, which has received the name of ‘Approve new participants’has been sighted in the beta version 2.22.18.9 of the application for devices Android.

As this specialized portal points out, it is very likely that this function will be accompanied by a new section, which includes the list of current requests from users who want to join a group.

Group admins will have all authority in this ‘waiting room’so that they can decide whether to accept or reject the requests received. The date on which this functionality will arrive is still unknown since it is still in the development phase.

THE REST OF THE PARTICIPANTS WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO ADD USERS

In line with this new feature, WABetaInfo has advanced another feature that WhatsApp is currently working on. It is a moderation permission that the administrator of a group can activate so that the rest of the participants can also add new users.

The portal has known the origin of this tool in the version 2.22.14.6 of the beta of WhatsApp for Android, where it has also verified that the platform will inform the participants of a group when the administrator has activated this option.

In this way, through a notification that will be displayed within the conversation itself, the rest of the users of a group chat will also be aware that they have this capacity.

This other tool is also in the development phase, so it is not available to beta users at the moment and the date of its deployment among the application’s user base is unknown.
