“Interceptor rockets have recently been launched against a suspicious aerial object that had crossed into the country from Lebanon. Alerts for rocket and missile launches have been activated in the areas of Acre and Kiryat Bialik for fear of falling projectile fragments” , the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced on their X social network account.

A few hours earlier, the IDF had bombed positions of Hezbollah militiamen in southern Lebanon who were launching projectiles at Israeli planes flying over the area. For its part, the Islamist group has confirmed the launch of surface-to-air projectiles against an Israeli F-15 fighter and drone attacks against the barracks of an artillery battalion in Odem. The plane “was forced to flee,” according to Lebanese television Al Mayadin.

Later, Air Force fighter jets under the direction of the 210th Division attacked a Hezbollah military structure in the Sheba area, according to the Israeli military statement. Two other military buildings have been attacked by aircraft in Itatron and Merkaba. A military structure in Jula has also been attacked.

To date, at least ten civilians and 15 Israeli soldiers and reservists have died as a result of the attacks carried out by Hezbollah, within the framework of almost eight months of clashes with the Shiite militia party Hezbollah following the attacks carried out on the 7th. October by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which left nearly 1,200 dead and some 240 kidnapped.

The fighting has left around 400 dead in Lebanon, as reported on Wednesday by the Lebanese Ministry of Health, a report published through its account on the social network Facebook and which does not differentiate between members of Hezbollah and civilians. It also reflects that another 1,200 people have been injured.

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, warned last week that the Israeli Army “is prepared for a very powerful action” on the border with Lebanon, as part of a visit to the city of Kiryat Shmona, located in the north. of the country and the target of dozens of attacks with projectiles and drones by Hezbollah.
