The PP urges the Government to execute the tax cuts approved by Congress with the PSOE against

Deflating personal income tax and reducing VAT on meat and hair salons are some of the measures that the Cortes have demanded from the Executive

The PP will take an initiative to the plenary session of Congress this week to urge the coalition government to undertake the tax cuts that the Cortes Generales have been supporting in different votes, even with the PSOE against.

This is a motion that the Popular Group registered as a result of an urgent question that it addressed at the end of May to the first vice president and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, regarding the economic situation in the country and the increase in poverty. .

In the motion, the PP dedicates an exclusive point to combat the “economic deterioration of families”, for which they ask the Executive to “start without delay” compliance with the agreements on fiscal policy that have been approved by Congress and Senate, where The ‘popular’ have an absolute majority.

Among the agreements that have been endorsed in the Lower House, through separate non-law proposals, are the deflation of personal income tax to combat inflation and the reduction of VAT on meat, fish and preserved foods. For its part, the Senate approved the consideration of a PP bill to apply the VAT reduction to 10% in hairdressers, barbershops and beauty centers.

PER CAPITA INCOME, STAGGERED

And, according to the formation led by Alberto Núñez Feijóo, Spain’s real per capita income is at the same levels as in 2019 and 2.5 points of convergence with Europe have been lost, which has meant that Spain once again “fall into the group of poor countries with the right to request cohesion funds.”

Likewise, the PP asserts that there are 4.3 million people in a situation of severe material and social deprivation, which is 675,000 more people than the previous year. “What has the Government done in 2024 to help families and reverse this situation? Nothing,” denounces the Popular Group.

For this reason, the Popular Group urges to extend the VAT reduction on basic foods, which expires on June 30, and to reduce taxes on electricity and gas, especially in a scenario in which tax collection is ” at historic highs” and in which the Government is going to invest 2,000 million euros to gain ownership of Telefónica. “It is not acceptable,” the PP concludes.
