June 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –

This Wednesday, War Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz redoubled his criticism of Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and on this occasion reproached him for not having met with the mayor of Kiryat Shemona during his recent visit to the town, located in the north of the country, on the border with Lebanon.

“You cannot make political considerations in times of war,” Gantz lamented in a statement in which he demands that Netanyahu pick up the phone to call the city’s mayor, apologize and invite him to a meeting with his team. of government to address the situation of the residents of this area.

Netanyahu’s Office has come out in response to these statements and has stressed that the prime minister’s visit to the northern border has been strictly of a military nature and to learn about the security situation in this area. “No meetings were organized with civilians, not even with the mayor of Kiryat Shmona,” he said.

A large part of the towns in northern Israel had to be evacuated after the attacks by the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah, launched as a sign of reproach for Israel’s offensive in the Gaza Strip after the attacks by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas). ) on October 7.

Those attacks by the Palestinian Islamist militia, which left almost 1,200 dead and 240 hostages, triggered the current war in the Gaza Strip and motivated Netanyahu to put together a war cabinet with some of the deputies who until now were in the opposition, as is the case of Gantz.

However, in recent weeks differences have deepened not only in the war cabinet, but also within the coalition government headed by Netanyahu, due to the way in which the war is being managed and also the possible agreements with Hamas for the release of the hostages.
