Renfe reaches the high-speed record with 118,000 travelers in one day

June 5 () –

Last Friday, May 31, Renfe reached a new record in high-speed services (AVE and Avlo) and long distance, registering 118,000 passengers in one day, as reported this Wednesday by the company.

“118,000 High Speed travelers in one day. New absolute record for Renfe,” announced the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, on the social network ‘X’, formerly ‘Twitter’.

The head of Transport added “that the arrival of the new S106 high-speed trains has given a decisive boost to Renfe, which has registered a record of travelers in a single day with 118,000 AVE, Avlo and long distance customers.” “The commitment to the train is paying off with unstoppable growth,” Puente concluded.

With an offer of 335 trains in circulation throughout the national territory, this record represents the record of daily travelers this year, Renfe explains in a statement.

Renfe points out that the greater number of frequencies and destinations, and its commitment to environmental savings, has translated into a progressive increase in demand, which is “more notable” since the recent incorporation of the S106 units.

This incorporation entails an increase of 5,000 daily places in the four corridors: Madrid-Zaragoza-Barcelona; Madrid-Asturias; Madrid-Galicia; and Madrid-Valencian Community and Murcia. In total, 24 services circulate, twelve in each direction, with demand peaking on weekends.

The S106 are part of the investment package of more than 5,000 million euros that Renfe has underway for the purchase of material and the renewal of the current one.

With this acquisition of new trains, Renfe details that it is thus enhancing national connectivity by putting more trains, more frequencies and more destinations at the service of travelers.
