At last! After almost 25 years, Fatal Fury will return with a new game

SNK is one of the companies with the longest history in the video game industry and precisely several of the most iconic and endearing franchises of the fighting genre that also marked the way for others were created by this company. Well, one of the most remembered, but which had been inactive for almost 25 years, Fatal Furyreturn.

Apparently SNK listened to the wishes of the fans, who longed to see the return of Fatal Fury in form and not only in figures or in Fall Guys (although much appreciated). The Japanese company closed its participation in the event with a flourish, as it confirmed that it is finally working on a new game of Fatal Fury.

When will the new game debut? Fatal Fury?

SNK refers that it is a sequel to Garou either Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves (as it was known in the West). In case you didn’t know, this title was the ninth and final installment in the fighting series. Fatal Furywhich since 1999 has remained in oblivion.

“After more than 20 years, Fatal fury/Garou will return! Finally, the long-awaited sequel has been approved,” said SNK, who shared the first image of the project (illustrated by the renowned and veteran artist of the Tonko company), in which Rock Howard is seen in the foreground and far away Billy Kane is apparently visible.

In case you missed it: SNK will implement the rollback netcode for samurai showdown.

Taking into account that the project has just been approved, it is very likely that it will be many months or even years before it is ready and debut, so you can predict that the title will arrive to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series, in 2024.

However, due to the prematureness of the project, no details are known, so we will have to wait for the launch window and the platforms on which it will be available. It is important to remember that months ago SNK anticipated that it was working on an unannounced game and that it would be powered by Unreal Engine 5, but it is unknown if it was referring to the new installment of Fatal Fury.

“The city of legend is still breathing. Hungry wolves are back on the prowl. A new destiny hidden in the dark,” reads the announcement trailer, which you can watch below.
