The Greek Police arrested this Monday the leader of the banned neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn, Nikos Michaloliakos, after a court revoked the provisional release granted at the beginning of May after he paid the bail imposed after his sentence to thirteen and a half years prison for leading a criminal organization.
Michaloliakos, 67, will thus return to Domokos prison just one month after being released, following the ruling of the Lamia Court of Appeal, which considers that the neo-Nazi leader continues to show no repentance, as published by the Greek newspaper ‘Ekathimerini’.
The jury reached this conclusion after examining numerous articles signed by him in which he continues to “praise and support” the Nazi-inspired practices used by Golden Dawn that led to the 2013 murder of anti-fascist rapper Pavlos Fyssas.
As a result of this event, the Court of Appeals of Athens banned the party after issuing sentences against 68 of its members for murder, attempted murder and violent attacks against both migrants and left-wing activists or politicians. It should be noted that the party became the third political force in the Greek Parliament.
