The leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has accused Pedro Sánchez’s Government this Sunday of delaying the publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE) of the Amnesty Law that the Plenary Congress approved four days ago for “fear of the effects” of a rule that, as he has said, is “illegal.” Furthermore, he has been convinced that the European Union will stop this rule and will not let “this outrage pass.”
“President Von der Leyen said it yesterday and I can assure you that Europe will be on the side of equality and the rule of law and, if not, at the same time. We will see it clearly, that the European Commission is not bought by seven votes in Spain,” Feijóo proclaimed at a rally in Zaragoza before 1,500 people, according to PP sources.
Feijóo has stressed that, after the amnesty is approved in Congress, the independence supporters “are asking for a referendum.” “But wasn’t this already the end of the process? Why are they now asking for a referendum? And if it involves so much reconciliation, why don’t they publish it in the Official State Gazette to reconcile as soon as possible”, he exclaimed.
The leader of the PP has said that the Government does not publish it because “they are afraid of the effects of that law, because it is illegal.” “That’s why they don’t publish it, and they will wait until later. Well, this is the triumph of the worst policy,” he indicated.
The amnesty law is expected to be published in the BOE in the coming days, however, it is necessary that the Official Gazette of the Cortes do so first, which usually takes around a week to publish the regulations. According to EFE, this is the usual procedure. The law must also be sanctioned by King Felipe VI, who has a period of 15 days to do so, according to article 91 of the Constitution.
At this point, already a week before the polls, he has said that they cannot “swallow with the greatest act of political corruption” that “they have experienced in 46 years of democracy”, given that, in his opinion, “the amnesty “It is impunity in exchange for power.”
“Amnesty its partners” and “cover” its “corruption”
At the event, in which the president of the PP of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, and the mayor of the city, Natalia Chueca, also participated, Feijóo alluded to the ‘Koldo case’ and the investigation into Pedro Sánchez’s wife, Begoña Gómez , despite the fact that the Civil Guard has ruled out signs of crime. “There is no precedent for an investigation into the Moncloa Palace like the one being carried out in the courts,” he stated.
The leader of the PP has stated that, “whether legal or not” the actions of Sánchez’s wife, she does not have “a pass” because “it is not ethical” nor “it is aesthetic.” “It stains the institution of the Spanish people, which is the Presidency of the Government and, consequently, the response at the polls is that we are not going to swallow that,” he warned.
After declaring that “today Spain is in the focus of Europe and the world due to the shadows of corruption that affect the president, his Government and his party”, Feijóo has encouraged citizens to go to vote next Sunday in the European elections and send the message that they do not support “these corruptions” as, in their opinion, the other parties do.
Furthermore, he has criticized the Government for only dealing with the amnesty law and forgetting about the problems of the Spanish people. “Poverty is increasing, the price of housing continues to rise, insecurity is growing and Sánchez only deals with corruption: amnestying his partners and covering up his own,” he stated.
“Hunger to win clearly and forcefully”
Feijóo has said that he has been able to verify that in Aragon, before the European elections, there is “excitement” and “hunger to win clearly and decisively.” In his opinion, “it is not only about having a handful more votes but what it is about is for the Spanish people to know that there is an alternative” and “another way of doing politics.”
Thus, he has stated that what they are doing in the autonomous communities where the PP governs they can do in the central government. “If there are 14 autonomous communities of the PP, which represent 70% of the Spanish population, we can turn it into the Government of the nation to unite again, to work again, to unite again and to be honest and decent again ”, he stated.
At this point, Feijóo has demanded to unite the vote in the PP to guarantee change and to give “a lesson” to those who have “lied.” As he has said, only the vote for the PP represents “the punishment that Sánchez deserves” and brings them “closer to the Government that Spain needs.” ”For starting the change, for freedom, for equality. Let’s vote with conscience, dignity and responsibility,” he concluded.
