June 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Maldives, Mohamed Muizzu, has decreed a ban on the entry into the country of anyone in possession of an Israeli passport.

The president has adopted this decision on the recommendation of his Council of Ministers and “will modify the laws that are necessary to prevent holders of Israeli passports from entering the Maldives.”

Likewise, the Council of Ministers will create a subcommittee specifically designed to “monitor these efforts,” the Minister of National Security and Technology, Ali Ihsaan, said in a statement posted on the Maldivian Presidency website.

In addition, the president has decided to “appoint a special envoy to assess Palestinian needs” and “organize a fundraising campaign to help our brothers and sisters in Palestine” in collaboration with the United Nations.
