In mid-April, the Bogotá Mayor’s Office launched the water rationing plan given the low levels recorded in the reservoirs. The measure, which is in its sixth cycle of execution, consists of the alternating suspension of the service in 24-hour intervals.

The latest balance sheet presented by the District shows that Chingaza system reservoirs are at 30.45%. And although the figure shows progress with respect to the storage of these deposits, there is still a long way to go to reach the goal of 70%.
In line with this update, the Bogotá Aqueduct and Sewer Company (EAAB) revealed which neighborhoods in the capital have saved the least water since the restriction came into effect. This is to raise awareness about the consumption habits that exist around this resource.

In the analysis carried out by the EAAB, it was determined which are the Zonal Planning Units (UPZ) where the savings strategy has not been so significant. That list includes: Río Tunjuelo (Ciudad Bolívar), Corabastos and Patio Bonito (Kennedy), Bosa central, 20 de Julio (San Cristóbal) and Tibabuyes (Suba).
According to the Acueducto, when the daily average of the recently invoiced validity is compared versus the previous one, it can be observed that In these sectors the reduction in consumption has been below 6.74%.

On the other side of the coin, there have been reports a reduction in average daily consumption of between 9.88% and 13.91%. Here are areas of the city such as central Chapinero, Chicó Lago, El Refugio, the UPZ Apogeo (Bosa) and the UPZ Diana Turbay and Morocco (Rafael Uribe Uribe).
The entity calls on citizens to make conscious use of water and take into account some recommendations to meet that objective, such as reusing rainwater and using the washing machine with a full load.
