June 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Government this Saturday applauded the peace initiative presented on Friday by the President of the United States, Joe Biden, to achieve a ceasefire to the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

The plan announced yesterday by Biden – whose preparation the president attributed to Israel – consists of three phases. The first of which consists of a complete ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from populated areas of Gaza, the partial release of hostages, the return of Palestinian civilians to their homes, and an increase in humanitarian aid.

The second phase consists of a permanent end to hostilities, the exchange of Palestinian prisoners for surviving hostages, and a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. The third and final stage would consist of the beginning of the reconstruction of Gaza and the delivery of the mortal remains of the deceased hostages.

In this context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has declared his support for the “immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages, the increase in humanitarian aid that leads to peace lasting in the Middle East, as proposed by the initiative of the president of the United States, with the support of Qatar and Egypt”.

“We want a future of peace for Israel and Palestine,” Albares added in a message published on his X social network account.
