DIrectSR is a new API that Microsoft is integrating into DirectX to facilitate the integration of “super resolution” or rescaling technologies into games based on this set of APIS. The idea is to find a standard system that ends the existing fragmentation between current SR systems. (AMD FSR, NVIDIA DLSS or Intel XESS).

DirectSR has been developed in collaboration with NVIDIA, AMD and Intel and allows, in a unified and simple way for developers, to enable DLSSS, FSR and XESS technologies under a single interface.

Support for DirectSR is done at the driver level, but it also implements an independent solution that does not require external support. Users will be able to choose which technology they want to use. without the need for developers to specifically program solutions separately.

Starting today, DirectSR is now available as Preview for developers who want to try this technology. At launch, DirectSR comes with support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.2 (FSR 2.2) natively, although driver support for NVIDIA DLSS and Intel XESS is also included.

In this way, for AMD FSR specific drivers are not necessary, while for DLSS the NVIDIA 560.38 drivers will be required, and for Intel the 31.0.101-5534 drivers.
