Given the number of complaints from citizens, the Bank of the Republic published a video on its social networks explaining how to recognize the authenticity of a banknote. Besides, andThe Issuer indicated that counterfeit bills are not exchanged for authentic ones and if there are suspicions of possible counterfeiting, the bill must be destroyed..

“Identify the watermark by holding it up to the light, one of the security features of banknotes. Look, touch, lift, turn and check are the 5 steps to recognize a bill. Check them all to ensure correct validation”highlighted the Bank of the Republic.

“The watermark is one of the devices on the bill. It corresponds to the image of the main character’s face and the denomination number of the bill. It is located on the left side of the bill when viewed from the obverse, better known as the front of the bill, and on the right side if viewed from the front. look at the back, that is, at the back. Remember that the watermark is not a print, since the bills are made with imported paper composed of 100% cotton. This image is formed by variations in the fibril concentration of the material.
