Johnny Wactor, who starred in the series “General Hospital,” was shot and killed while preventing thieves from stealing the catalytic converter from his car in Los Angeles, his family said Sunday. He was 37 years old.
The crime occurred around 3:00 a.m. Saturday, when Wactor approached three men in downtown Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
His mother, Scarlett Wactor, told the network ABC 7 that his son had left work at a bar with a colleague when he saw a person next to his vehicle and thought he was going to be towed. The suspect, with his face covered, shot her, her mother added.
The three men fled the scene in a vehicle, police said. Wactor was rushed to a hospital, where he died.
No person has been arrested in connection with the case as of Sunday night.
Wactor’s representative, David Shaul, said the actor was a “true moral example to everyone who knew him.”
“Throughout the ups and downs of a complicated profession, he always kept his head held high and continued to try to be the best version of himself,” Shaul said in a statement released Sunday. “Spending time with Johnny was a privilege we would have wished on anyone. He literally would have taken off his shirt to give it to you. After more than a decade together, he will forever leave a void in our hearts.”
Wactor played Brando Corbin in the soap opera ABC between 2020 and 2022. He also appeared in several films and television series, such as “Station 19”, “NCIS”, “Westworld”, and the video game “Call of Duty: Vanguard”.
