Colombia will host the Fifth Meeting of the Regional Conference on Population and Development of Latin America and the Caribbean

Senior representatives of government, regional and international institutions, private sector, academia and civil society will address the achievements of the Montevideo Consensus and the challenges for its 30-year implementation of the Program of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD). , during the Fifth Meeting of the Regional Conference on Population and Developmentwhich will take place from July 3 to 4 at the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center, Colombia.

During the meeting, ECLAC will present the document entitled Population, development and rights in Latin America and the Caribbeanwhich constitutes the second regional report on the implementation of the Montevideo Consensus and analyzes progress in the implementation of the priority measures of the agreement ten years after its adoption.

The meeting will have two thematic panels in which member countries and other actors will share their experiences and challenges for the implementation of the 30-year Montevideo Consensus of the Program of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and They will analyze the progress and challenges to guarantee the full exercise of the rights of people with disabilities within the framework of the population and development agenda.

The Fifth Meeting of the Regional Conference on Population and Development It will be preceded on July 2 by side events and civil society activities.

The Conference is currently chaired by the Government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia and has the strategic support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
