The United Nations reported this Friday that a total of 97 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid for the Gazan population have been able to enter the Gaza Strip through the floating dock installed by the United States on the coast of the Palestinian enclave.
“The World Food Program has taken care of 97 trucks since the floating dock has been operational. There were several trucks that were self-distributed by the people, but the trucks themselves arrived. We did not lose any trucks,” said the spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the UN, Stéphane Dujarric, at a press conference.
Dujarric explained that the operation is “stabilized” after the first trucks that left the dock were looted by dozens of Palestinians before humanitarian agencies could distribute them from Deir el Balah, in central Gaza, in the midst of the famine. that the Gazan population suffers.
“The World Food Program has found several routes to reach its warehouse in Deir el Balá,” he indicated, adding that from there they notify their partners, both UN agencies and international NGOs, so that aid can be distributed.
Dujarric has also indicated that the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has not yet resumed food distribution due to insecurity within the framework of the Israeli Army’s offensive on the enclave.
The health authorities of the Strip have reported this Friday that there are already 35,857 people who have died and 80,293 injured as a result of the bloody offensive of the Israeli Army on Gaza in response to the Hamas attacks on October 7, which They left 1,200 dead and 240 hostages.
