The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) issued a message this Thursday suggesting that Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Colonel Asaf Hamami, who had been presumed dead during the October 7 attack, is one of the slightly more than one hundred hostages who remain in captivity.

The Ezzeldin al Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, have released a video in which they point out that Hamami was injured during his capture, although they have been ambiguous regarding his fate all these months, the Gazan newspaper reports. ‘Filastin’, close to the Islamist group.

The Israeli Army announced on December 2, 2023 that Hamami, commander of the Southern Brigade of the Gaza Division, was killed during clashes that occurred on October 7 in the vicinity of Kibbutz Nirim.

The general headquarters of the Gaza Division of the Israeli Army, located in the Reim military base, was one of the main targets of Hamas during the attacks that day, which left some 1,200 dead and 240 hostages.

The bloody offensive of the Government of Israel due to the attacks of October 7, 2023 committed by Hamas that left 1,200 dead and another 240 kidnapped, has since left 35,800 Palestinians dead and 80,000 injured.
