“The construction of the park aligns very well with our industrialization agenda,” said Kitila Mkumbo, Minister of State at the Office of the President responsible for planning and investment, in an interview with Xinhua.

According to Janson Huang, president of the park, construction of the industrial project, which began in May 2022, is expected to be completed by 2026.

The industrial park includes seven zones, covering agriculture and food processing, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, daily chemicals, garments and equipment manufacturing. One area will be dedicated to export processing.

Located in the Coast Region, it will be the largest industrial park in Tanzania, Kitila Mkumbo assured, adding that it will be able to house around 200 factories, significantly improving employment in the region.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tanzania. According to the Tanzanian Minister of State, the relationship has been cordial and uninterrupted for the past six decades.

“Our relationship is deeply rooted socially, politically and economically,” he said, recalling that China helped Tanzania and Zambia build the TAZARA railway, which allowed Zambia to access the port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. “It is the backbone of transportation between both nations and other countries in southern and eastern Africa,” commented the minister.
