Relatives of hostages publish video of Hamas militants kidnapping five Israeli female soldiers

Netanyahu and Herzog are “horrified” by the images and promise “strength and affection”

May 23. (EUROPA PRESS) –

An Israeli association of relatives missing or kidnapped by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has published this Wednesday a video showing Palestinian militants capturing five female soldiers, who are still captive, at the Nahal Oz military base. , in southern Israel, during the attacks on October 7.

During the three minutes that the video lasts, published to show the “failure to bring the hostages back,” Hamas militiamen can be seen handcuffing these women — identified as Liri Albag, Karina Ariev, Agam Berger, Daniella Gilboa and Naama Levy–, some of them with blood on their heads and other parts of their bodies. All of them are between 18 and 20 years old.

One of the hostages assures before the cameras, held in the bodies of the attackers, that “she has friends in Palestine”, and asked to call them, while another of them asks for “someone who speaks English”, to which a militiaman responds that “he wants silence,” although he then ends up asking for the phone number of “his friend in Gaza.”

“Dogs, we will crush you! Our brothers died because of you, we will shoot you all!” one of the militiamen is heard shouting based on the subtitles published by the Israeli newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.

In another shot, one of the Hamas members proclaims: “Here are the girls (women who can get pregnant). Here are the Zionists,” and then addresses one of the soldiers with “you are very beautiful.”

After this, a cut from the video appears to show how Hamas transfers the women to a vehicle to take them to the Strip, all with the background sound of a nearby shooting.

The families of the five soldiers have asked to publish the images to “wake up the nation” and the country’s leaders to achieve their release. Some of these relatives had previously announced that they would join the demonstrations against the Israeli Government and in favor of an agreement to achieve the freedom of the hostages. Throughout these months, Hamas has published images of some of these five women calling for an end to the attacks on Gaza.

After its publication, both the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the country’s president, Isaac Herzog, were “horrified” by the images and promised “strength and affection.”

“I am shocked by the video documenting the kidnapping of our beloved women. We will continue to do everything possible to bring them home. The brutality of the Hamas terrorists only strengthens my determination to fight with all my might until the elimination of Hamas , to ensure that what we saw tonight never happens again,” Netanyahu posted on his X social network account.

Herzog, for his part, has reacted on social networks, ensuring that “it shows the distressing moments in which, on October 7, five young soldiers from a guard post (…) were beaten, threatened with rape and brutally taken as held hostage by Hamas terrorists from Gaza. The video has been spread by the brave families and we continue to offer them all our strength and affection.
