Dushanbe () – Tajikistan’s national “Model Family” competition has come to an end. The special prize was awarded to the family of Okilboj Gadoev, from the city of Istiklol, in the Sugd region, former Iranian area of Sogdiana, while the overall first place went to the family of Talabkhudži Nozimov, from the city of Kuljab, in the Khatlon region. The winners, along with the first-ranked families, received gifts and prizes from the Women and Family Committee of the Dushanbe government.
The criteria for defining the “ideal traits” of families were the ability to be a model for the local community of residence, the health of the members and strong relationships among them, the good education of children and the contribution to the well-being of your home, the streets, the town and the neighboring province. Also very important is the active participation of family members in social initiatives, individually or in groups, the role of the family in defending the values of national culture, knowledge of the Tajik language and participation in republican competitions. , cultural and sports.

The vice president of the Committee, Zarina Abdulmainzoda, explained that the competition was held “with the aim of strengthening the status and role of the family in society, propagating the culture of the family and raising the cultural and social level, showing the model of “ideal families.”
The competition was held in three phases, at the city, region and republic level. Along with the documents, the participants were subjected to various controls by special commissions, made up of representatives of the ministry and other organizations, with interviews with the entire family body and its individual members. The commissioners also spoke with the civil authorities of the different cities and towns, with the directors of the schools where the boys and girls study, with neighbors and relatives. Visits were made to the participants’ homes, in which the state of maintenance and renovations, the surrounding areas were evaluated, and the family values witnessed by the different communities found were summarized.
The organizers of the contest made it clear that the material and financial conditions of the participating families would not be a decisive factor, comparing them with other requirements for the expression of values.
As Abdulmainzoda explained, “it takes into account the good upbringing of children, the level of their education, the respect of families for their environment and their workplaces and, in general, good relationships with everyone in the reality of the daily life”.
The Tajik government places great emphasis on active participation in “cultural events”, exhibitions, shows and competitions, as well as “all types of public initiatives of social importance.” Younger families were also invited to participate in the “Model Family” contest, with emphasis in this case on “the quality of relationships between husband and wife,” as well as with fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law, a sensitive point in the family stories from around the world.
