Aug. 6 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least four policemen have been killed as a result of an attack launched by a group of armed men on Friday night against the Agwa Police headquarters in Imo state, southeastern Nigeria.
The event, which occurred around 10:00 p.m., is part of a spike in violence in a state where separatist groups operate within the complex reality of the African country.
The assailants, according to witnesses in the Nigerian newspaper ‘Premium Times’, also destroyed three vehicles and a good part of the facilities.
Security has deteriorated in Imo state, where gunmen last week invaded a community in Orogwe and killed seven security guards.
The Nigerian government has accused the indigenous people of Biafra of the attacks but the community, which demands an independent state and whose leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is being held for alleged terrorism, denies any responsibility.
