HP OmniBook X and EliteBook Ultra: outrageous autonomy and Snapdragon X chips to unlock the full potential of AI

HP OmniBook

We are witnessing live how computer manufacturers are beginning to follow Microsoft’s latest plans. The Redmond company announced this week the name “Copilot+” intended to identify the compatible equipment with new Windows artificial intelligence (AI) features.

HP has become one of the first firms in updating your catalog with two proposals that receive the “Copilot+” label. We are talking about the HP OmniBook X and EliteBook Ultra laptops. This is a move that has come accompanied by a major reorganization of its product line.

HP OmniBook X and EliteBook Ultra

When we talk about the OmniBook X and EliteBook Ultra we are referring to two laptops 14 inch ARM that incorporate the Snapdragon X Elite processor. Remember that this is the more ambitious version of the chip than Qualcomm, which also offers a less powerful “lite” version called Snapdragon X Plus.

One of the keys to the chip that powers these new HP computers is its dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU). It is capable of achieving a performance of 45 TOPS, the minimum required by Microsoft to grant the “Copilot+” surname. As a result, it is ready for Windows AI features.

Speaking of storage and memory, the HP OmniBook X can be purchased with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB SSD. The HP EliteBook Ultra G1q, for its part, has a soldered RAM of 16 GB LPDDR5X and arrives with 512 GB of space on an internal PCIe NVMe SSD drive. Both devices have a 59 Wh battery.

As we say, battery life is one of the great virtues of these devices. According to HP, both the OmniBook X and EliteBook Ultra can offer up to 12 hours of Microsoft Teams calling or up to 22 hours of video playback on Netflix. In some cases, the autonomy can be extended up to 26 hours, they say.

If we focus on connectivity, the two proposals are identical. They boast two USB-C ports, a USB-A 3.2 gen 1 port and an audio port. Also have Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. There are no differences in the weight (1.3 kg) or the front camera (5 megapixels plus IR).

HP reorganizes its product line

As we noted above, HP has made an important change to its catalog. When buying a computer, we now find two categories: Omni equipment, which is intended for home users, and Elite equipment, which is aimed at professionals.

Within each category we will find different levels and additional distinctive elements. The best way to explain this change is with the screenshot you can see at the top. It should be noted that this is also a goodbye for the categories Spectre, Envy and Pavilion.

There are those who believe that macOS is the salvation of the iPad. A former Microsoft executive is very clear that it is a terrible idea
