No Saturday Circulating Today: which cars can circulate and which rest on May 18

HNC

After a week of restrictions on circulation due to a double environmental contingency, the usual conditions for the Not on Saturday Circulation Today on this Saturday, May 18.

This means that the restrictions of the Hoy No Circula program, devised by CDMX Environment Secretariat (SEDEMA) return with their usual conditions, with the aim of reducing pollution and improving the quality of the air we breathe.

The application of this regulation is based on a very simple theory: if there are fewer cars on the street, pollution will be less. In this way, the amount of polluting particles in the air will be much lower.

What cars and license plates does Hoy No Circula Saturday affect?

Having all this clear, which cars are required to rest and which are free to circulate without any restrictions? All these details are concentrated in the image above, in which the previous cases are specified.

Following these rules, there are cars that are required to stay home at least once a week. Others, however, will do it two days each week and, the last ones, will have to do it once or twice in alternate weeks, depending on the time of the month in which we are.

These restrictions, however, apply between the 05:00 and 22:00 hours. At night, where the volume of vehicles is lower than during the day, you can circulate freely, let’s talk about the car we’re talking about. In that case, circulation is completely free.

To understand if we have to stay at home or if we have no problem, the first thing we have to do is take a look at the hologram that our car has. These holograms are what determine whether or not we can move freely.

For example, cars with hologram two must rest every Saturday of the month. In that case, these cars will have their circulation limited two days a week. On the other hand, those in hologram one will have to stay home on alternate Saturdays. One weekend they will have to rest and the next they will be able to move freely.

In this case we talk about Saturday May 18. As we are talking about the third weekend of the month of May, it will be the vehicles with hologram one with a license plate ending in an odd number that have to rest and, therefore, cannot move.

Of course, you must always keep in mind that these restrictions apply between 05:00 and 22:00 and that, in addition, there are the following exceptions for vehicles that will be able to circulate freely every day and those that will not be restricted. The Hoy No Circula rules apply:

  • Those with hologram 0 and 00
  • Those that run on electricity, natural gas or are hybrids
  • Those who have a disabled license plate
  • All those dedicated to urban transportation services (includes funeral homes)
  • Those that offer school or passenger transportation
  • Those intended for public safety and/or civil protection

Pollution is not only making you live less and worse. It's also making you dumber

If you fail to comply with these restrictions, the fine will be 20 to 30 times the Unit of Measurement and Update (UMA), equivalent to 1,924.40 pesos And till 2,886.60 pesos.
