Iraqi Kurdistan authorities arrest a senior Islamic State official "very close" to its leader

The security forces of Iraqi Kurdistan announced this Friday the arrest of a senior official of the Islamic State terrorist group identified as Suqrat Jalil, who was a person “very close” and “trusted” to the leader of the organization.

The individual was also known as Abdullah al Tafjij, as reported by the Security Council of the Kurdistan Region on its Facebook social network account.

Khalil joined the ranks of the Islamic State in 2013 and played an important role in the battle for Mosul the following year. After the defeat of the terrorist group in the city, Jalil carried out activities in Syria, Turkey and Iraqi Kurdistan, where he was finally arrested, according to the Kurdistan 24 television network.
